Whether they're coming home, arriving for treatment, or reuniting with family, we ensure their journey continues with the same comfort, care, and attention they deserve.
Air medical teams, medical escort providers, and case managers trust Ambiance to ensure a seamless transition from air to ground transportation. From flight arrival to final destination, we coordinate every detail so patients continue their journey safely, comfortably, and without delay.
For a patient who can't walk a jet bridge or sit through a terminal, the gap between the cabin door and the curb is the hardest part of the trip. We close it — with ramp access, the right transfer equipment and crews who have done it a thousand times.
Badged, escorted access at private terminals and general aviation ramps — we stage on the apron before you land.
Trained two-person transfers from cabin to gurney, including narrow air-stairs and cargo-door stretcher loads.
Dispatch monitors the tail number or flight number. Early, late or diverted — the crew moves with the aircraft.
We can meet travelers at the gate, on the jet bridge, or directly on the tarmac for aircraft-side transfers.

Yes. At private terminals and general aviation ramps — Van Nuys, Burbank, Long Beach, the LAX west ramp and others — we coordinate escorted ramp access with the FBO and meet the aircraft directly for a plane-side transfer. For scheduled commercial flights, we meet at the gate or jet bridge and work with the airline's special services team, since airline ramps aren't open to outside vehicles.
Dispatch tracks the flight or tail number from departure. If the arrival slips, the crew's schedule slips with it — at no extra charge for normal delays. If the aircraft diverts to another Southern California field, we reposition to meet it there and notify the booking party immediately.
Up to 500 miles from the arrival airport, which covers Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Fresno, Bakersfield, the entire Inland Empire, San Diego, Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Phoenix. The same crew that meets the aircraft completes the drive — there's no second vendor or second handoff.
Regularly. We hold standing trade accounts with air medical operators and escort services who fly into Los Angeles, with net billing terms, a dedicated ops contact, COI and crew credentials on file, and a signed clinical handoff record at every aircraft-side transfer. Setup takes a single call.
Yes. In sedan and wheelchair-van transports, family members ride with the patient, and we handle luggage, mobility equipment and durable medical equipment. In gurney transport, one family member can typically ride along — mention it when booking so we assign a vehicle with the seat available.
Airport transports are quoted as a flat rate, agreed before the arrival, and paid privately or billed to a trade or facility account. We're a private-pay service, so there's no insurance authorization to wait on — which is exactly why it can be arranged on short notice.
Ideally a day or two, so we can confirm ramp or terminal access and stage the right vehicle. That said, because we're private-pay with no authorization to wait on, we regularly handle same-day and next-morning arrivals — call dispatch and we'll tell you honestly what we can put together for your flight.
Every commercial and general-aviation field in the region — LAX, Burbank, Long Beach, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, Hawthorne, Ontario and John Wayne — plus the private FBOs at each. If a patient is flying into Southern California, we can meet them, at the gate, the baggage claim or the aircraft.
Every crew is EMT-certified, and we match the vehicle to the patient — ambulatory sedan, wheelchair van with full securement, or an attended gurney transport for those who need to stay lying down. Oxygen, mobility equipment and durable medical equipment are all accommodated; just tell us the needs when you share the flight.
Yes. For patients arriving without family — including minors released to our care with prior written authorization — a named EMT meets them inside the terminal with identification, stays with them through baggage and the entire drive, and hands off directly to the receiving family, facility or caregiver.
We do. Delayed flights don't change the plan — dispatch tracks the tail number and the crew is there whenever it lands. For destinations beyond the immediate area, we run long-distance transfers of up to 500 miles, so a patient can fly into Los Angeles and be delivered the same night to their home or facility across the region.
