My mother can't sit up for a car ride anymore. Every doctor's appointment meant arranging gurney transport, and I'd heard enough horror stories from other families - late pickups, rough handling, a different unfamiliar face every single time, never knowing what we'd get.
I didn't want to spend every Tuesday morning anxious about whether the ride would go smoothly.
