My first spine surgery taught me what not to do for the second one
I'd already been through one spine surgery. A friend drove me home that first time, and even the careful, slow transfer in and out of a low sedan was enough to undo an hour of careful post-op recovery. Sitting upright in a car seat for even a short ride was brutal.
When the second surgery came, I knew exactly what I wasn't going to repeat.
After the first time, I knew a regular car ride home was the wrong call. I wasn't doing that again.
