I'm legally blind. Every transportation app assumes you can see your phone.

I can't read text messages. I can't book a ride on my phone. Most transportation services today are built entirely around apps - you need to see the screen, read the confirmation, track the driver on a map. For someone with legal blindness, that's not a minor inconvenience. That's a wall.

I'd found services that said they could accommodate me, and then fell apart in practice. The pickup coordinates fed by GPS often don't match where I actually need to be picked up or dropped off. No one would fix it in the moment - they'd just go where the app told them.

Every time I needed a ride, I had to depend on someone else just to operate the booking system. I didn't want to lose that independence too.

He redirected the pickup. He stayed on the call. He figured it out.

Sia was the one who changed things. When GPS coordinates didn't match my actual location - which happens more than people realize - he didn't default to the app. He stayed with me, worked through the real pickup point, and made sure the driver got to where I actually was, not where the system said I should be.

I also can't respond to text confirmations. Sia handles that too - calls instead of texts, clear communication, no assumption that I'm looking at a screen.

The outcome

I book my own rides now. That's not a small thing.

Independence isn't just about where you can go. It's about whether you need someone else's help to even get started. Ambiance gave that back to me.
